Ø Public Lecture: Department of Animal Production at College of Food and Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Zoology Department at College of Animal Science are pleasured to announce for a public lecture on: “EMODEPSIDE: A NOVEL BROADSPECTRUM ANTI-NEMATODE DRUG” which will be presented by Prof. Frank Wunderlich, Professor of molecular biology of parasites, University of Heinrch Hain, Dusseldorf – Germany.

Ø Lecture: Department of Animal Production presented a public lecture on "swine flu", by Dr. Mansour Faris Hussein, a professor of animal diseases, Department of Animal Production.

Ø The Department of Animal Production hosts Prof. Dr. A. C. Beynen, from the University of Utrecht; Netherlands (currently working at the University of Rajamannagala of Science and Technology, Thailand), The prof. one of the most cited researchers in the field of animal nutrition and physiology (with more than 769 articles in peer-reviewed journals). Prof. Beynen agreed on a one year, renewable contract between Prof. Beynen and King Saud University collaborators (Prof. Dr. A. Al-Haidary and Dr. H.E. Mohamed); Department of Animal Production. The visit was carried out between 9-11 May 2009, and he presented two lectures, public, and one for postgraduate students at the department. Ø A letter to the Department head from the Rector of the University: The Rector of the University Professor/Abdullah Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Othman, praised with letter No. 139905/1/1 dated 15/5/1430H, the efforts of the department to organize a lecture entitled " Dietary Fatty Acids: More than Energy" , which presented by Prof. Dr. A. C. Beynen, from the University of Utrecht; at Netherland, and wishing the Department to continue with these activities. The Department hosts the Professor Anton Baynin, through the Scientist Fellowship Program (one of the permitted programs at King Saud University).
Ø Ph.D. Dissertation: The gradute / Bander A. Al-Selbood presented the first PhD dissertation in animal production in the department. The thesis title is “Effect of feeding program on performance and caracass characteristics of Najdi lambs”.

Ø Lecture: Saudi Society of Agricultural Sciences and Department of Animal Production presented a public lecture on “Camel Nanotechnologies and its Medical Applications” by Prof. Serge Mulderyman, Head of Lab. Cellular and Molecular Immunology, Brussels Free University. Time: Tuesday 27/1/2009 - 12:30. Venue: Main Theatre of College of Food and Agricultural Sciences (1A48).
Ø A letter to the Department head from the Rector of the University: The Rector of the University praised with letter No. 37348 dated 8/2/1430H, the efforts of the department to organize a lecture entitled "Nanotechnology in medical applications and camels" in cooperation with the Saudi Society for Agricultural Sciences.
Ø Congratulations: Dr. Saud I. Al-Mufaarej (faculty member of College of food and agricultural sciences, Animal Production department) became Chairman of the council of the M. Sc. Program in biodiversity for two years starting from 2 February 2009, with best wishes for success.
