Head Message

Nutritional education and economical status play a major role in human health. Families in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia spend about 30-40% of their income in food. The nutritional status in the Kingdom is greatly improved quantitatively and qualitatively as a result of the developments in the fields of food technology. The establishment of the department of Food Science and Human Nutrition in 1385H (1965G) had greatly involved in the developments of food and nutrition by providing the society with highly qualified graduates in food and nutrition. The department was established in 1385H (1965G), as one of the main departments in the college of Food and Agricultural sciences. By 1401H (1981G), it was possible for students to specialize in Food Science and Human Nutrition.
The Department is now offers a post graduate program, leading to a masters degree (M.Sc.) in Food Science (for male students) and. post graduate program, leading to a master M.Sc. in Human Nutrition (for male and female students) and a Ph. D. program (for female students) in Human Nutrition.
