Services provided to the students

             The nonacademic activities provided to the students are considered complimentary to the academic activities, since it makes the environment surrounding the student education favorable for attaining the best academic results in addition to the strengthening of the student character and developing of his talents which qualify him to be productive in his society subsequent to his graduation and will be added to those who graduated before him. Therefore, the real contribution in the country development continues so that it gets the excellent position among nations. Therefore, the college deanship in cooperation with the university deanship of student affairs, give the student activities a great importance. The students committees are supervised by the deputy dean for administration affairs who is the head of the college activities,  and the membership of three of the teaching staff as activities leaders who are assisted by supervisors from the deanship of students affairs. Also one of the outstanding students is nominated as a chairperson for each committee in addition to selection of more students as members. These activities have special units called “students committees” where the arrangements for the different activities take place, and a special room was assigned for them, (room 1A28), located in the northern wing of the college, Phone 4678352.

 First: Cultural Services:

            Cultural services are provided to the students through the cultural activity which strengthens the university student character and develops his cultural talents. Some of the objectives of the cultural activities include:

  • Confirmation and support of students understanding of the Islamic ideology and behavior.
  • Confirmation of belonging of students to their nation and society and to assist them to perceive humanitarian thoughts.
  • Developing of the university student character through diversification of the culture resources in accord with our Islamic belief.
  • Making the best use of the leisure time and training of the students to get excellent contributions.

            These objectives can be attained through the programs that are specially prepared for them, such as the cultural contest between the departments that is organized by the cultural committee which ends by nomination of the outstanding students to represent the college in the cultural contests such as the "university cavalier" and also by holding cultural symposia and lectures and other cultural activities.

Second: Social Services

            Social services are provided to the students through the social activity which strengthens the student university character and develops his social talents

  Some of the objectives of the social activities include:

  • Enrichment of students experience and encouragement of the objective competition spirit in the social field.
  • Satisfaction of student desire and tendency through training him in the field of   public work.
  •  Getting the new students to know the social activities that can be performed at the leisure time and that the society can benefit from.
  • This can be performed through student activitie, such as the reception parties for the new students and the college parties in the different occasions.

            Part of the activities performed by the social committee, are the visits to the hospitals, orphan houses and handicapped rehabilitation houses. Also organization of a single day trips or trips to the different regions of the Kingdom to get to know them and to get exposed to the food and agricultural projects located in these regions.

 Among the social committee activities is to try to get employment opportunities for students through the arrangement with the deanship of students affairs and also participation in the different college activities such as the tree week, exhibitions, symposia and others.

Third: Sport Services

            Sport services are provided to the students through the sport activity which strengthens the student university character and develops his sport talents

  Some of the objectives of the sport activities include:

  • Broadcast of sport spirit overwhelmed with the straight Islamic religion belief for the formation of integrated, strong, faithful character.
  • Developing, strengthening, and guidance of student talents to occupy their leisure time in a useful manner.
  • Contribution in building up of integrated character for the student for the future, guidance, assuming responsibility, self trust, cooperation, courage, sacrifice and self denial.
  • Formation of excellent relationships between students, teaching staff and university employees by having them together in unified sport activities.
  • Spread of sport consciousness, sport culture, and sport education.
  • Getting new students to join sport activity and to know the sports facilities available and identifying new talent students and assurance of their training.
  • Satisfaction of a student desire and tendency through free practicing at the sport facilities.
  • Acquire of knowledge and experience and increase of knowledge and information through interaction, camps, and visits.
  • Formation of teams to represent the college in the annual university competition for the first and second stages.

Fourth: Special Services for students expected to graduate:

            Student affairs and graduate relationship committee assumes the responsibility of pursuing students expected to graduate from the college (Seventh and eighth levels). Arrangements are made between the private sector and the college to show the capabilities of these students to make use of their scientific capabilities to hire them to work at the private sector. The committee has general objectives as follows:

  1. Establishment of data and information base which include:
    • Integrated and updated information about college of food and agricultural science graduates.
    • Information regarding the public and private sectors and their corporations that relate to the college graduates
  2. Direct arrangements between the different college departments and food and agricultural companies and factories for field training of the college students in these companies and factories
  3. Organization of an open orientation day in the college under the name of (The occupation day).

The committee has played an important role in helping students to get jobs.

 

Fifth: Enlightening Services of smoking harms and hazards

           The committee of enlightening people about smoking harms assumes the responsibility of explaining the danger of this matter on the individual and the society. This committee has carried out an important role in providing special information to enlightening with smoking harms and hazards. The college has applied the system in this respect as prohibition of smoking in the college.

 

In addition to the previous services the Saudi and scholarship students are entitled to many services provided by the university among its services for students such as health, living expenses, and training.
