Skills development Unit
Vision:
We aspire to be a leading and
distinguished academic body that provides integrated services for the purpose of
developing the skills of the faculty, lecturers, teaching assistants, and the
students of College of Food and Agricultural Sciences (CFAS), in addition to
academic and administrative leaders and other employees.
Mission:
Our mission is to develop the
skills of the faculty, lecturers, teaching assistants, students and the academic
and administrative leaders and other employees in a way that guarantees
achieving the highest levels of creativity and excellence in teaching
Objectives:
The unit adopts the
concepts and practices of an on-going self-development for the professional
skills of the faculty, lecturers, teaching assistants, and the academic and
administrative leaders, and other employees, and developing the students' skills
for the purpose of improving the quality of the outcome of CFAS in a way that
contributes to the provision of a suitable environment and eases the achievement
of academic development. In this respect, the unit aims at achieving the
following:
1)
Setting strategies for the purpose
of improving the skills of all CFAS staff in a way that achieves excellence and
creativity in learning and teaching.
2)
Developing the abilities and skills
of all CFAS staff and supporting their creative endeavors and professional
achievement to obtain excellence in the academic and administrative process.
3)
Identifying the necessary needs to
develop the skills of all CFAS staff.
4)
Designing, organizing and
implementing the necessary development programs to improve the skills of CFAS
staff.
5)
Evaluating and revising the programs
provided by the deanship to all CFAS staff and measuring their effectiveness.
6)
Training CFAS faculty in the latest
university instructional techniques and their applications.
7)
Developing the abilities of the
faculty to design and develop courses portfolios and transform them to
electronic contents.
8)
Supporting CFAS faculty in making
use of the latest technology and instructional techniques and aids.
9)
Providing professional consultation
to CFAS faculty to help them improve their skills and promote their performance
level.
10)
Organizing experience-sharing
programs for maximizing the professional growth of CFAS faculty.
11)
Contributing to the development of
the students self-learning skills promoting their academic achievement and
practical performance, in addition to their social and technical skills.
12)
Contributing to the development of
decision makers' leadership skills at CFAS.
13)
Issuing scientific brochures and
booklets that contribute to the achievement of the deanship objectives.
14)
Promoting cooperation
and experience-sharing in the fields of skills development with higher
education institutions inside and outside the country.
Strategies:

Using international standards in
designing training programs and assessing performance.

Designing and implementing training
programs inside and outside the College.
3)
Constructing programs to reinforce
and develop the creativity and excellence among CFAS faculty through granting
awards for the creative staff members.

Developing, reinforcing, and
supporting the training leaders.
5)
Setting procedures necessary to
motivate and encourage attendance of training programs and courses.
6)
Adopting the principle of local,
regional, and international cooperation and experience-sharing.
7)
Establishing programs for academic
partnership and supporting experience and program-sharing with similar
world-wide higher education institutions in the field of skills development.

Means:
1)
Preparing and implementing training programs and
sessions, workshops, seminars, discussion circles and lectures for staff
members, lecturers and teaching assistants in the professional and educational
fields.

Providing consultations for faculty in the fields of
teaching, learning, and scientific research.
3)
Organizing and implementing sessions and lectures for
CFAS students to support their learning abilities and make them acquire life
skills which enable them to engage in university life successfully.
4)
Organizing meetings for new faculty to better
acquaint them with university regulations.
5)
Organizing programs to exchange experiences inside
and outside the university.
6)
Cooperating and keeping in touch with similar centers
inside and outside the country to exchange experiences.
7)
Cooperating with international bodies specialized in
skills development, and achieving qualitative excellence in all academic
programs, academic supervision and administrative procedures that contributes to
the educational process.

Using the latest technologies means such as the
internet and e-learning.

Preparing and issuing leaflets and brochures that
contribute to the development of the faculty skills.
