Membership

 

There are four types of membership, all of which are subject to approval by the society's Board of Directors:

 

A)  Honorary Membership:

 

- Companies and Establishments:

 

Honorary membership may be awarded to companies and other commercial establishments for materially contributing to the inception and subsequent functions of the society (minimum annual contribution 25,000 Saudi Riyals). The privileges of these members include:

(i)            Displaying the honorary member's name and logo in an appropriate and legible manner in the society's website and all of its media publications such as posters, pamphlets and journals.

(ii)          Permanently displaying the honorary member's name and logo at the society's meetings and symposia.

(iii)         Honorary members may state their membership in their stationary, publications and advertisement material but not in their commercial products. 

(iv)         Each company or establishment elected to honorary membership is also entitled for five, free ordinary memberships for its staff as well as five, free copies of each publication issued by the society, including those for which a subscription is normally required.

 

- Individuals:

 

Honorary membership may also be awarded to individuals who render outstanding services to the society or the fields of food and nutrition in general. The privileges of these members include:

(i)            Free membership of the society.

(ii)          Right to attend and participate in all functions of the society and to receive a free copy of all publications by the society.

 

B)    Ordinary Membership:

 

Individuals holding a bachelor's degree in food sciences and nutrition or other related fields are eligible to apply for ordinary membership of the society at an annual subscription rate of 100 Saudi Riyals.  Those elected as ordinary members enjoy the following privileges:

(i)            Right to attend all functions of the society and to receive a copy of each of its publication at a discount of 30%.

(ii)          Right to attend all general assembly meetings and participate in discussions and voting.

 

 

 

 

C)  Affiliated Membership:

 

- Companies and Establishments:

 

Affiliated membership may be awarded to companies and other commercial establishments pursuing activities relevant to the society, at an annual subscription rate of 5,000 Saudi Riyals. The privileges of these members are:

(i)            Stating the affiliated member's name and logo in the list of the society's sponsors, which appears in all news releases and journals issued by the society.

(ii)          Affiliated members may state their membership in their stationary, publications and advertisements but not in their commercial products. 

(iii)         Each company or establishment holding affiliated membership is entitled for three, free ordinary memberships for its staff as well as three, free copies of each publication issued by the society, including those for which a subscription is normally required.

 

- Individuals:

 

Affiliated membership may also be awarded to students in relevant fields as well as other interested individuals without a university degree at an annual subscription rate of 50 Saudi Riyal. Affiliated members enjoy the right to attend all functions of the society and to receive a copy of each of its publication at a discount of 30%.
