King Saud University Adopts e-learning

In its endeavor to improve the standard of the services it offers to its students and the public, King Saud University is offering computer training programs to its teaching staff. The latest of such programs is an e-learning program called Jusur. This is a resourceful program which enables the faculty to interact with their students through the cyberspace. There are a lot of features in the program that make it easy to manage, post study materials, exercises, quizzes, announcements, schedules to the targeted individuals or groups through the computer. This program relieves the teacher of the cumbersome tasks of marking exams, exercises, calculating assessment scores, etc as these are taken care of by the computer.

The training workshop offered is very beneficial to its users. Many faculty members of KSU have already taken the one-day workshop in which they had a hands-on training of how to use the program. The training will continue until all the faculty members get the opportunity to complete that training. Most of the English teachers in the Language Unit have already had that training.

The Result of the First Semester's Statistics (2007 ~ 2008)

The First Semester has come to its end. The results of the exams have been declared. There has been nothing unusual about the result of the exams. The failure rate of Najm 122 is comparatively more than that of Najm 121. This is due to the fact that the students in Najm 122 this semester were either repeaters of the course whose level of English has been comparatively low or students who dropped out of the course in previous semesters due to different reasons. The following charts show the pass-fail statistics of Najm 121 and 122 courses.
