 Department Activities

 

Besides their academic duties, faculty members in the department are involved in consultative and scientific activities within the College of Medicine, the University Hospitals as well as extra-mural activities in other institutions.

The following clinical activities are undertaken by the department staff:

·         Running the Clinical Laboratories at King Khalid University Hospital and King Abdulaziz University Hospital.

·         Running the Blood Coagulation Clinic.

·         Running the Fine – Needle Aspiration Clinic at King Khalid University Hospital.

·         Collection of special specimens for certain infection diseases e.g. Tuberculosis, Mycetoma and Fungal infections.

·         Participation in control of hospital infections, including skin testing for Tuberculosis.

·         Tissue typing for potential kidney transplant donors and recipients.

·         Running Allergy Clinic for children and adults.

·         Training Medical and Technology interns for the college of Medicine and College of Applied Medical Sciences and some other hospitals in the Kingdom. 

Conferences and Seminars

·         Organizing periodic scientific meetings in collaboration with Riyadh Military Hospital, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and King Fahd National Guard Hospital.

·         Organizing special seminars for the department and within each unit

·         Organizing scientific meetings in collaboration with other departments in the College of Medicine on a regular basis.

·         Participation in scientific meetings with leading medical institutions in Riyadh to discuss recent advances in Pathology.

·         Participation in scientific and medical meetings organized by the Post – graduate Center of King Khalid University Hospital as part of the continuing Medical education program for Registrars, Residents and Medical Students.

·         Participation in scientific and medical meetings at national and international levels.
