Morning meetings (Sat, Mon, Wed 8 - 9:00):
In these meetings, the presentation and management of new patients presenting to the ER and new admissions to the inpatient unit are discussed. The cases are presented by the involved resident and then discussed by the attendees (residents, consultants and psychologists).
Journal Club (Sun 7:45 – 9:00)
This activity is meant to be stimulating. A resident prepares and presents an interesting article published recently in a peer-reviewed psychiatric journal. The article is then critiqued by the audience for signs of scientific strength and weakness. The essence of scientific thinking and logical approach to problems are stressed in such activity.
Case Presentation (Tues 7:45 – 9:00 on alternative weeks):
An interesting case, either due to its presentation or management, is presented to the staff by the treating team. The aim is to increase the experience of the attendees and obtain their view regarding the presented case and its management.
Interview Technique Sessions (Tues 7:45 – 9:00 on alternative weeks)
The aim of these sessions is to help residents learn basic and advanced interviewing techniques that would help them establish rapport with patients and obtain necessary information to formulate a differential diagnosis and treatment plan. A real patient is used in these sessions, after obtaining his/her consent and ensuring confidentiality. The interview is conducted by a resident and supervised by a consultant/academic staff who would later discuss with the attendees how their interviewing skills could be improved.
