Inline with KSU strategies, the Department of Nursing continued to provide a rich environment for the preparation of nursing professionals, and contributing to the advancement of health care and the nursing profession in Saudi Arabia. In 1988, a Master’s degree in Nursing Sciences was established, leading to multiple options for those interested in the profession. Graduates of the program are sought by health care institutions and educational programs, and many alumni have become leaders in the field.
Nursing is one of the most promising professions all over the world. The rapid development of the health care industry in Saudi Arabia, and the advancement of the practice of nursing, have created a great demand for highly skilled nursing workforce, nursing faculty, and health policy leaders. In 2004 the Department of Nursing once again became the College of Nursing at KSU.
This program has come a long way, from the class of 1978 which had only three students to more than 1500 applicants in 2005. Supported by the political will of the nation and the leadership at KSU, the College of Nursing will continue to thrive and become a center of excellence in nursing education to prepare graduates who are knowledgeable, caring and competent practitioners, educators, researchers, and administrators.
