Message from the Vice Dean
Female Students Affairs

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the College of Nursing at the King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. First established in 1977, KSU College of Nursing is one of the oldest programs in baccalaureate and master education in nursing in Saudi Arabia. As one of the nation's distinguished Schools of Nursing, the resources of the School constitute an invaluable asset for the intellectual, scientific and economic enrichment of health care in the country. We are strategically positioned to prepare a cadre of highly skilled advanced practice nurses, nursing faculty, and health policy leaders which are in high demand in the current Saudi health care system.
Nursing has a central role to play in health care reform. In Saudi Arabia, the government recognizes the importance of high-level professional nursing practice. The demands that have emerged in health care for an increased number of nurses have created secure employment opportunities for our graduates in a variety of health care settings. Our graduates are engaged in prominent and valuable activities that reflect their wide scope of practice and forward-thinking. From disease prevention and health promotion, to providing primary care and community-based services, our graduates are in a well-earned position of ascendancy and accountability. In addition to preparation for their first professional position, our students also develop knowledge and skills which will make them critical thinkers, creative problem-solvers, and effective communicators.
We have well-prepared, versatile faculty who have teaching as their highest priority. The faculty represent high quality in clinical competence, and maintain their professional skills through research and professional involvement. Our faculty is committed to creating a vibrant environment that promotes the development of nurses dedicated to lifelong learning, ethical practice, and leadership. Our students have the opportunity to learn in a variety of clinical sites in the country. It is our pledge to prepare skillful and compassionate nursing leaders who are able to quickly respond to and effectively address the changing health needs and problems of the nation.
Coinciding with the expansion of health care in the country, is the development of our master’s program that prepares nurse for leadership positions as clinical specialists, administrators, policy experts, researchers and clinicians, all of which are in high demand in today's health care environment. Furthermore, KSU College of Nursing is about to expand its graduate offerings by opening a PhD degree in nursing which is currently under administrative review to ensure meeting international standards. We thrive for innovations and eminence as a premier educational resource for aspiring nurse leaders. We will continue to work cooperatively with other health professionals on campus, nationally, and internationally in search for excellence in teaching, research, practice, and public service.
Whether you are considering joining KSU College of Nursing or are already part of the family as a student or alumni, I encourage you to explore our web site to learn about the options available in our school.
