The Computer Center was set up with the inception of the College and is regarded as one of the major centers in the College, and the aim of the existence of a Computer Centre in the College of Science and Humanities in Al Kharj is to provide basic and essential services needed by any institution. These services include the following: - identification of the needs of the College for computer machines and their accessories and preparation of their specifications - Review of the specifications and requirements of computers, their peripherals and softwares and amendment of the specifications prior to approval for invitation of tenders in coordination with the beneficiaries. - Supervision of the examination of computers, peripherals and softwares supplied to the College - Maintenance of computers and peripherals of the College. - Installation of softwares in the laboratories and offices. - Supervision of the operation of computer networks in the College and opening of accounts on the computer servers and issuance of user names and passwords. - Supervision of the Internet service in the College. - Setting up of the necessary programs and databases for the College. - Providing of technical support to the College with regards to the computers, peripherals, network and Internet. -Development and updating of the College website periodically. The Centre also seeks hard to: - develop the administrative work of the College through the provision of Internet service and availing the necessary programs for the offices, laboratories and the exchange of information and documentation of transactions and documents electronically through the network. - provide technical consultancy to the computers of the branch and administrative sections. - supervise the follow-up of the network and the contracts concluded with outside firms to ensure the quality of technology. - provide the necessary support to departments and employees of the college and technical consultancy for every thing related to computer.

 

The administration of the Center undertakes the following tasks: - Supervision of the six laboratories of the college which are computer labs as well as English language labs at the same time and follow-up and downloading of the programs needed by these labs. - Follow-up of the internal and external network of the College. - Installation and maintenance of the computers of the College staff including the teaching staff members and employees - Supervision of the Admission and Registration process of new students in coordination with the Student Affairs Deanship of the College.

 College Laboratories:

There are six laboratories in the College including four connected to a main server and the rest are linked to yet another server. These laboratories serve as computer labs as well as English language labs at the same time.

 Description of the computer labs:

 The first four laboratories:

The number of computer machines in each labs is 30 of HP 3.6 MHz type with high specifications and their operation system is Win XP and they have Office programs and Object Oriented programs. In each computer machine, there is a protection card against any change in the programs, the system and the and files called: Guardian pci cards for trainee PCs. Each of these laboratories has an HP laser printer linked to the network and NEC projector and white screen connected automatically to the projector and also a smart Mimo Xi board, and each laboratory is linked to the network through a 48 outlet Cisco Switch with high specifications. In order to use these laboratories as English language labs there is a relay box of voice transmission and decoding with headphones, microphone and a program for voice and speaker operation through the Net Support. program which control these laboratory These laboratories are connected to the main server through switch in every laboratory and the main server is HP hp proliant ML370 type of high specifications and the operation system is: Win server TD 2003.

 The Other Laboratories:

 In addition to the previous specifications, there is conversation device of MBS type used for English language students. Their control program is X-Class which is also linked to a main Hp server. .

Due to the fact that the College recently established, there are only two members, namely:-

 Mr. Abdullah Latif Al-Onazi.     Mr.Fahad Noor Almutiri.

 They are the supervisors of the computer labs and the internal and external network. The Center will be completed soon, with the development and growth of the College.


Participation in the designing process of the College website, which culminated in winning the best design among the branch colleges of the King Saud University, in the first stage of the motivating competition of the University website management.
