Islam 101    An Introduction to the Islamic Culture     

     This course aims at teaching the righteous principles of Islamic religion and at connecting Muslim generations to the basic sources of Islam. Such teachings and principles are likely to be transferred to the individual’s real life situations protecting them from the dangers of our contemporary life. Accordingly, the course addresses the problems relating to the youth of today and tries to find solutions to these problems. It also introduces the student to the central pillars of Islamic civilization and highlights the reasons for backwardness in the real Islamic world.

Islam 102     Islam and Building

     This course provides a broad definition of Islamic household and society outlining the basis on which they are built. Basically, it raises the most important issues regarding society and household discussing social problems and finding solutions to them. Such problems are dealt with in accordance with Islamic legislation.

Islam 103    The Economic System in

     This course deals with the economic life in the Islamic society pointing out the financial relations among individuals and the individual’s relationship with saving and spending money. In addition, it provides the student with insights into the laws compatible with Islamic religion.

Islam 104    The Principles of the Political System in Islam

The course investigates the Islamic political system and the rules on which this system is based. It also focuses on the differences between the political system in Islam and the other political systems in the world.

Arabic 101    Linguistic Skills

     The course is primarily concerned with developing the student’s reading, speaking, and writing skills. As such, students will be able to put what they learn into practice through writing accurately and correctly, using literary terms and figures of speech, and understanding and evaluating contexts.  It also encourages students to use literary expressions with a special emphasis on vocabulary and accuracy.

Arabic 103    Arabic Editing

       This course aims at developing the student’s writing skills. Thus, it is concerned with organizing topics, cohesion, and punctuation marks. It also helps students divide their topics into well-connected paragraphs. Such paragraphs encourage students to maintain a logical sequence of ideas.  

English 121          Reading  Skills     

        This course deals with reading skills aiming at promoting students ability to understand and evaluate texts. Each unit integrates the study of Grammar with related vocabulary and cultural information. Such grammatical structures offer an opportunity for the students to develop accuracy about the topic in question. Besides, a variety of reading skills such as predicting, scanning, skimming, are practiced throughout the course to make the learning process interesting and meaningful.     

English 122          Writing  Skills                  

       The main focus of this course is to teach students how to generate topics, write cohesive paragraphs, and organize them into clear, logical expository composition. The focus of each unit is a writing assignment: some are introspective. Others are more conventional but task-based. Moreover, each unit offers learners different organizational tools which are practiced in prewriting exercises.

English 123          Listening  Skills              

             This course is meant to develop student’s listening skills at the academic level inviting them to focus on the process of learning. Each unit provides contemporary themes to stimulate critical thinking skills while building language competence. Moreover, the carefully designed pronunciation syllabus focuses on topics such as stress, rhythm, and intonation. Students also are introduced to contextualized vocabulary to help them comprehend listening activities.

English 124  Translations in the field of computer Science 

     This course is intended to meet the needs of the students of the intermediate level. It is designed for students studying Computer Science or working with computers. This course deals with reading, writing and listening skills aiming at promoting students ability to understand and evaluate texts with a special emphasis on vocabulary acquisition and grammatical accuracy. It also provides students with terminological language related to the field of computer science. Such a language offers an opportunity for the students to develop accuracy about scientific vocabulary and expressions. This accuracy helps students translate computer language correctly into their mother tongue.

English 125             Medical Laboratory Terms      

      The course aims at developing all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. It is designed for students who will have to communicate in English with patients, their relatives and other medical colleagues. Accordingly, it focuses on the area of doctor-patient communication, from history taking and examination to diagnosis and treatment. It also provides students with practice in writing referral letters and completing a range of medical documents.

English 126             Medical Laboratory Terms      

    This course is intended for students of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. It contains authentic reading and listening passages. The topics have been chosen to cover areas that are common to both Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The course aims to develop all four skills through a series of tasks that encourage students to combine their knowledge of English with their technical knowledge.

ZOO 106 Introductory Animal Zoology

This course deals with the various animal cells, cell organelles, cell division, enzymes, the Mendel's Laws of heredity, the structure of the DNA and protein synthesis, biotechnology and genetic engineering, endocrinology and hormones. It also provides the student with insights into the structure and function of the nervous and reproductive systems in man and other vertebrates.
