Funding
Research Chairs are funded through one of the following:
1. Research Chairs Program budget or University endowments.
2. Financial support from the Higher Education Fund.
3. Self-funding through profits from the Chairs' activities.
4. Donations, wills, gifts and endowments (thus far the most significant funding source).
Funding Amount and Installments:
The funding amount varies among individuals and institutions (5 to 15 million Saudi Riyals). It is paid in installments as follows:
1. A fixed amount determined by the donators and covering the costs of the Chair’s activities for a specific period of time.
2. Multiple installments varying in size according to the nature of the financers:
a. Individual financers make a down-payment of two million Riyals followed by a one-million-Riyal yearly installment over a period of three years.
b. Companies, banks, and institutions make a down-payment of four million Riyals followed by a two-million-Riyal yearly installment over a period of three years.
It is worth-mentioning that the above financers are welcome to increase the size of their funding at any time.
Privileges Enjoyed by the Financers
1. The Chair shall bear the name of the financer, whether it be an individual or an institution.
2. The name of the contributor or donator shall be inscribed in:
· The University golden record
· The Chair’s workshop or laboratory
· Research published in scientific periodicals
· The Chair’s space areas and all related activities
· Patents of invention and scientific books resulting from the research activities carried out by the Chair
3. Supporters are given the University trophy in honor of their efforts.
4. Supporters may benefit from the Chair’s research findings and enjoy priority of its consultative services.
Forms of Spending
Support funds fall under diverse forms of spending, namely:
1. Supporting the Chair’s research and studies projects.
2. Purchasing and providing for all required equipment for the Chair’s research activities.
3. Financing seminars, research sessions, workshops and conferences deemed necessary for the Chair’s activities.
4. Financing other activities needed by the Chair.
