The Strategic Plan for King Saud University

King Saud University faces – like other Saudi universities – a number of defying issues exemplified by the rising need of students for admission into it as well as the high quality of its output, its appropriateness to the market, Kingdom development needs in line with contemporary developments in education and research. Despite the lapse of more than 50 years since the establishment of the university, the aspirations of those in charge and its faculty , in addition to community expectations  far exceed  the university status quo and its achievements since in this long process.

Accordingly it is opportune for the university to embark on a long term strategic plan flexible and realistic enough through which it can rephrase its vision and future aspirations and work towards achieving its goals and objectives via a clear strategy and well defined schedule. The work team of the Strategic Plan Project hopes to develop a long term succinct university plan with the above defined well behaved attributes.

Some of the most prominent objectives of the Strategic Plan Project are:-

  • Identify basic and fundamental issues effective on the university mission.

  • Improvement of internal efficiency and high quality education throughput.

  • Avail an environment attractive to distinguished faculty.

  • Satisfaction of local and international assessment and academic accreditation criteria.

  • Provision of standard resources for academic research and encouragement of researchers to international distinction.

  • Provision of a suitable educational environment appropriate to the implementation of modern trends and technologies in university education and instruction.

  • Encourage and support partnership between the university and various community sectors.

  • Support and propagate the culture of strategic planning in all colleges, deanships and administrative units of the university.

In addition to these landmarks the plan also encompasses and welcomes contributions of sectors of concerned parties in the university as well as concerned businessmen not to forget university graduates.

We are sure that the success of this project relies on active participation for all concerned parties. A special workshop namely: "A Strategic Plan Workshop for KSU Graduates" is intended to give KSU graduates their chance in the university upheaval and welfare.

Also this workshop is one of a series of such functions addressing faculty, staff and students.
