The department has been established in 1404/1405 H. The program of study started second term at that year. It went through many developmental stages,most importantly was modifying the department plan three times to increase the efficiency of the role it performs to accomplish its scientific and educational mission. The mission of improving the quantity and quality of services delivered to people with special needs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
