PREPARATORY YEAR PROGRAM

King Saud University welcomes, with great pleasure, the preparatory year students, who are starting their first steps, in the road of acquisition of knowledge and skills.

The preparatory year program emphasizes discipline, and the development of both: learning skills and personal capabilities. The program is not only concerned with providing education, but it is also associated with delivering practical training, encouraging cooperation, and enhancing the sense of responsibility. It hopes to influence students to succeed in their studies, and in life. It intends to invite successful people, from the government sector, and from the private sector, to share their past experience, and their views on future development, with the students.

Advanced technological tools will be made available to students, including portable notebook computers, that is in addition to the other computers available in the university. The students will be able to interact with their instructors electronically. Their computer skills will be promoted to an advanced level. In addition, they will live in an English speaking environment that would enable them to obtain a score of no less than "500" in the TOEFEL test, and no less than "5" in IELTS test. The environment will also be highly disciplined, with no room to any misconduct.

The preparatory year program is based on a grouping system. At the beginning of each semester, every student will be assigned to a specific group, and will receive a timetable showing his courses, and the places where these courses are taught. This system would enable students to start their courses at the beginning of the semester, and will also give them a chance to know one another, and develop friendship.

This preparatory year program prospectus elaborates on the objectives of the program, and describes its organizational structure, policies, and rules and regulations. It is highly advisable, for all students, to read this prospectus carefully and gain the knowledge it provides, as this will enhance their potential success, not only in the preparatory year program, but also in their future years of study at the university.

The university calls upon all students, of the preparatory year program, to invest in the opportunity they have been offered, by their admission to the program. With positive attitude to the program and its requirements, students can gain benefits, not only to themselves, but also to the Saudi society, and to the world at large.
