The English Language Department at the Girls Preparatory Year is dedicated to helping students acquire the skills needed to communicate effectively and learn independently. The primary goal is to prepare the students to take IELTS ( International English Language Testing Sysytem) by studying several courses with variable content. Those students who choose not to take IELTS will develop general skills, that will help them now and in the future, under the supervision of well qualified staff from cambridge University.  All instuctors are English native speakers, promoting each students's a chance to learn and comprehend more effectively. Each instructor will be teaching an average of 25 students per class, such a small group increases the chances of better understanding and more concentration. All enrolling students at the course will take a Cambridge University placement test that determines the level a student should start with.  Overall there are six differents levels, students are required to finish three levels by the end of the academic year.  Each student will be assigned to a suitable level according to her potentials and each level contains listening and speaking activities in additions to writing and grammar to develop the ability of the students overall English.  Students will be attending 4 hours everyday to complete 20 hours a week.  The course will be externally assessed by Cambridge University, that includes the 1st midterm, 2nd midterm and the final exam.  By the end of the year all the students will have sufficient skills to enhance their communicative abilty to study and learn independently.
